This little beauty is known as Red Avadavat or red munia in the Indian subcontinent, and are found in grassy areas close to water. They look similar to the Red Tanager but they are not. Notice the dotted black and white plumage with the red all over- that is the characteristic of the male species of the Strawberry Finch. They are Sparrow sized around 3-4 inches long.
