Lilium
Lilium
Culturally Lillies portray love, affection but most commonly Lillies are used at funerals and have many a Biblical significance.
The dried bulbs and flowers are used in cuisines around the world to create intricate flavors.
But, what attracted me to this flower and to create this painting is, how beautiful it looks once dried or wilted -like a delicately crafted sculpture. It adds a new layer of beauty and shows the finality of the end.
It looks as if the flower is hugging the stems-wrapping and curling around it. The texture of the shriveled petals look like brush strokes and I remember while painting the petals, being in a perfectly meditative state since it required severals layers of colors and strokes to create the image.
